Spring is just around the corner.

February felt like a return to the old days here in The Sea Ranch. Lots of stormy weather and a few of us even lost our power a couple of times. The flow of the Gualala River was very dramatic with the mouth staying open all through the month. All of our seasonal streams are, of course, still running strong and the subterranean water table has definitely been replenished. Highway One and Skaags Spring Road have had some trouble in a couple of spots, but the very competent, very hardworking state and county road crews have been on top of the problems and have kept the inconvenience to a minimum.

Storm waves were gigantic and the roar of the surf could be heard all the way up on the ridge. Out in the greening meadows, the wild flowers are just starting to appear with Footsteps of Spring and Douglas Iris leading the way as usual. We’ve even seen a bit of Indian Paint Brush budding. Daffodils are popping out of the ground in the vicinity of the earlier ranching community’s homes. Our wild turkeys have started their annual courtship dance - rooster tail feathers spread wide while the young damsels look demurely away in seeming disinterest. Large formations of wild geese have been spotted heading north. Hermit Thrush are beginning to sing their song at dawn. Spring is very definitely not far off.

Regardless of the weather, home construction and remodeling work continues throughout the Ranch with the various craftsmen and construction teams planning their work around the rain. Inside work on wet days, outside work on dry days. The level of competence and skill of those working locally in the building trades is very high and, as a result of that together with advances in the Sonoma County building code, the overall quality of the housing stock in The Sea Ranch is not only not deteriorating, it is continuing to improve dramatically. Combine this with the consistent, well funded maintenance program that is in place for all of our community assets and infrastructure and I suggest that you have a certain degree of reassurance about the wisdom of your investment.

Everybody has their own individual needs and desires when purchasing a home and no community is perfect for everyone. I would be delighted to help you decide whether The Sea Ranch is right for you and your family. Give me a call and we can set up a date that is convenient for your visit. I will show you around the Ranch, answer your questions about the community, and show you the properties that are on the market right now. If we don’t find exactly what you are looking for I can keep my eyes open for it and let you know just as soon as it comes on the market. I personally visit every new property as soon as it enters the market and I have been doing it for a very long time. I know this community and this market. I look forward to sharing my experience and knowledge about this community with you.
