Here comes 2018 - The Year of the Brown Earth Dog - ready or not!

2017 is in the history books.  My wife and I wish you and yours health, happiness and good fortune in the coming year.  I looked 2018 up in Google and learned that  “The Chinese Horoscope 2018 predicts that this year of the Brown Earth Dog is going to be a good year in all respects, but it will also be an exhausting year.”  I look forward to it being a good year and I am getting used to life being exhausting.  In fact, that is pretty much why my wife and I started visiting The Sea Ranch regularly more than three decades ago.  (How time flies!)  We liked life here so much that we eventually built a new home for ourselves and we have been here ever since.  That pattern fits a very large number of our neighbors as well.  
 
The real estate market here in The Sea Ranch has been quite active all year long as people continued to move in and out of the community.  Equally important, new construction and remodeling work continued at a relatively high level.  While the local economy obviously benefitted from all of this activity, the more important long range significance lies in the vitality of the community that it reflects.  The Sea Ranch is a unique place and is obviously not suitable for everybody at every stage in our lives.  Our needs and desires change over time and this is inevitably reflected in where and how we choose to live our lives.  The community itself is also impacted by these trends.  Here in The Sea Ranch, building codes, improving tradecraft, and an influx of skilled workers have resulted in new construction being done at a much higher level of quality than during earlier periods.  The inventory of the community’s housing is growing and improving.
 
If you are seriously considering moving to The Sea Ranch or acquiring a second home here, I would love to share my experience with you so that you might better assess the extent to which this community fits your needs at this stage in your life.  I can, of course, show you what is on the market right now, but there is inevitably much more that needs to be taken into consideration than just the particular four walls that you might choose.  I want to help with both sets of considerations so that you can make the best decision possible.  Afterall, if you decide to purchase here, we are going to be neighbors.
